When Faith and Music Flooded the Valleys

A journey that began in search of a quiet lake but led to a divine union of gods and mortals. Come, feel the beating soul of Himachal.

When Music Filled the Air

The moment I arrived, it felt as if the entire valley had awakened. The beats of drums, the echo of trumpets, and the tunes of the shehnai... There was a different energy in the air, the preparation for a divine festival.

Gods Adorned in Gold & Silver

And then, the incredible sight! One by one, about 25 deities arrived, seated in their palanquins. These were not ordinary idols, but living emblems of faith, adorned with heavy gold and silver ornaments.

The Dancing 'Devalus'

With the gods were their hundreds of 'Devalus' (devotees). Lost in devotion, chanting praises, and carrying their deities on their shoulders, they danced to the rhythm of faith. Their energy and enthusiasm were truly a sight to behold.

A Divine Gathering

The union of these deities, arriving from far-off regions like Trung, Uttarshal, Badar, and Saraj, was a divine gathering. This festival is a symbol of their service and devotion towards the great sage, Maharshi Parashar.

The Grand Procession & The Walk

The main event of the fair was the 'Shahi Jalebh' or the grand procession. When all the deities, decked in gold, circumambulate the sacred lake together, it feels as if heaven has descended on earth.

More Than a Fair, a Celebration of 'Dev Sanskriti'

The Saranahuli Fair isn't just a religious event; it's a celebration of Himachal's deep and vibrant 'Dev Sanskriti' (the culture of the gods). It shows how deeply the people here are connected to their roots and traditions.

A Memory to Last Forever

This festival at Parashar is a unique blend of faith, tradition, and nature. It was a journey that left a deep impression on my mind—a memory that will stay with me forever.
